1. Many ODSC rides are cancelled until further notice due to the Covid-19 situation.

    Hi
Since we can’t ride maybe we could come up with some longer rides to enjoy when the situation improves. For example, I’d like to get from the Orangeville area to Perth Ontario using the least amounts of pavement or roads. I don’t have the background expertise to develop the gpx track, still figuring out Gaia gps. If anyone has any suggestions or longer routes around southern Ontario I’d be interested. Thanks.

    Hi Ken,

Are you the Ken H of old? If so, welcome back!

Watch for the odsc ride calendar that will be published once the isolation is over. It should have been published by now, but we have been holding off until the situation starts relaxing. There will be a number of organized put together. You can of course put one together yourself and solicit others to join in “casual rides and get together”.

    Welcome (back?) to the club.

    Michel

    Thanks for the welcome.
I’m old but not the Ken H of old. Rode roads a lot in my teens/early twenties. just getting back in to adv riding and looking to improve my trail/routes knowledge during this down time.
    Thanks
    Ken

    Ken;

The first year of the Paris/Dacre ride went from Orangeville-ish to near Perth (Dacre). There was very little road time. I have those routes, but I don't know if it's appropriate to share them, as they were developed by other parties.

Can I get the other Execs to weigh in on answering that one?

    Hi Ken

the hard part is getting across Newmarket
After that you could work you way to Peterborough.
What time frame are you looking to do this in a days run?

I think it's ok to share GPS files, with the caveat that the legal status and suitability of trails might have changed since the route was laid out. With the covid 19, it might be better to stay off the rails for the time being. But there is no harm done in looking at routes on the 'puter.

Since we are not riding, that’s all I’m trying to do is discover some routes so I’m ready to explore when able. I’d appreciate any route ideas. It helps me practice with different mapping apps to see what works and what doesn’t. I have been playing with Gaia, any pros, cons or other suggestions.
    Thanks
    Ken

Sorry Hikerman I didn’t answer your question. I’d like to do it in one day and return the next. However if there are more areas to explore I will do it over several days.
    Thanks
    Ken
