Garmin just announced new versions of the Montana but there seems to be almost no different from the original Montana 600. Only differences I can see are 4GB internal memory instead of 3GB, plus the ability to receive GLONASS satellites. Check it out at: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/cat...43&compareProduct=523640&compareProduct=75226 Perhaps Montana 600 prices will be discounted to clear "old" stock? Bob
Here's a bit more info from Garmin: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2...-610-610t-camo-680-and-680t.html#.Vd0eC_lVhBd Bob
The timing is good for me... my Oregon screen is failing due to a misadventure with the ground Unfortunately, the USD-CAD exchange rate isn't going to help the retail price here in Canada.
Wow, that's even better than "factory reconditioned" pricing. Great find Bruce. If that was available when I bought my Montana 600, I probably would have bought it and lived with the smaller display.
Please anyone post up if they find a great deal on the Montana 600 (old stock) like the Oregon Bruce found!
Refurb out of the U.S: http://www.gpsnation.com/refurbished-garmin-montana-600.html Not sure how great of a deal it is by the time you ship and add currency exchange...
A word of caution about refurbished Montana 600/650 units. Watch for / specify / ask about the integrity of the battery door seal contact. Some users overstuff the battery door with foam (ear plugs) and the plastic bayonette cam (inside the unit) deforms and it cannot be fixed at home by most. I have seen this issue pass the refurb spec at least here in Canada. Because of the position on the GPS on a handlebar water is not likely to flow up to, but is free to see the battery, SD card and the insides of the GPS.
