Just finalizing the Falls Tour for April.

There are 18 waterfalls, only 3 straight roads (longer than 2 km), 1 Great Lake, and 9 ascents or descents of the Escarpment. It's clocking in at 199 km (Campbellville to Burlington...normally a 20 minute drive).

I'm examining how to get group access to all the waterfalls, so stand by on that one. It will be totally big bike friendly, in fact, you can negotiate all of it on a street bike. (But don't forget your kick stand support if it's "soggy" out). There will be multiple bail points, fuel stops won't be an issue, and as many Timmy's as you can possibly tolerate (since the first one was created in Hamilton). Depending on group turnout, we'll try to have a few minutes at each waterfall. We'll have to see how that goes.

    Hello All!
I’m Tom, a new member, 32-years old based out of Shelburne. Looking forward to coming out to some rides when the wife and kids allow me to. I’ve been trail riding a MX bike for about 10 years, got my M2 and first blue plated bike about 6 months ago to legitimize my fun!

OH, man, Tom! You are our hero!

Do you know how many times we pass around/through/over Shelburne on our rides?

Now we have a place to put the feet up, have a cold beer, power wash our bikes, maybe do a little laundry, top up the tank, and camp out, if need be...I mean if you don't have a spare room or two.

    Welcome to the ODSC.

Haha @brucedwilson I figured I was in a hotspot, especially for the Orangeville-Creemore tour. I’m sure you’ll all find the sleeping arrangements in my garage just as comfortable as I do when I annoy my wife haha. Concrete pillows and beer blankets!

I knew I lived in a good area for DS riding as I’m forever crossing paths with you folks when I’m touring in my truck. Last year I setup a “No Exit” tour with my Toyota buddies, and every 10km or so we’d get passed by DS riders, whom made me very jealous haha. Areas like “the waterfall” on First Line just NE of Honeywood, The Orchard (closed now) in Hornings Mills and the Garden of Eden are all spots I frequent on 4-wheels, quite looking forward to a new perspective.

I've taken a bit of a break from off road riding and just got back into it. How do I know which of the rides on the calendar are big (heavy) bike (KTM Super adventure) friendly? I'm capable but 65 and not Chris Birch:)

Welcome back to the sport Allan S!

When the individual ride threads are started, they will have a description of the terrain/bike suitability. For the near future, you should be fine with the Falls Tour, Bridges Tour, Mills Tour and the Bluewater ride.

    See you out there,

    Michel

Just to make thngs clearer than mud!!!!

A new order comes into effect on Today, April 8 and will last for at least four weeks.

It says people cannot leave home, except for about nearly 30 essential reasons:

You must not leave home, except:

    • To go to work or volunteer. The work role must be considered “essential.” Per the terms of the order, employers get to decide if a job is essential or not.
    • To go to school (some school boards have closed for in-person learning)
    • Attending, obtaining or providing child-care.
    • Receiving or providing training or educational services.”
    To buy things:

    • Purchasing “food, beverage and personal care items.”
    • Obtaining healthcare items and medication
    • Buying goods or services that are “necessary for landscaping, garderning and the safe operation, maintenance and sanitation of households, businesses, means of transportation or other places.”
    • Buying or attending an appointment at any business allowed to be open, including for curbside pickup.
    • Attending a financial institution.
    • Receiving any government service including healthcare or mental health assistance.
    Helping others:

    • Delivering goods or providing care to anyone in a congregate care setting or receiving goods or support.
    • Accompanying someone else outside who requires assistance to travel.
    • Transporting a child to their parent or guardian’s home.
    • Transporting a member of one’s household “to any place the member of the household is permitted to go under this Order.”
    To protect oneself:

    • From domestic violence
    • Assisting someone living in unsafe conditions
    • Seeking help in an emergency situation
    • Attending a court or other location for the administration of justice
    To exercise, including:

    • “walking or moving around outdoors using an assistive mobility device”
    • using an outdoor recreational amenity permitted to be open.
    Indigenous rights:

    • All activities protected under Aboriginal treaty as defined by the Constitution Act of 1982.
    Moving and travelling:

    • Travelling is permitted to another location if the person intends to stay there less than 24 hours and is doing so for one of the other purposes set out in the order.
    • Otherwise, travelling to another residence is only allowed if an individual intends to stay there for at least 14 days.
    • Travelling between homes of parents, guardians or caregivers in order to safeguard someone under their care.
    • “Making arrangements to buy or sell a residence or to begin or end a residential lease.”
    • Moving.
    • Going to the airport, train or bus station, “for the purpose of travelling to a destination that is outside of the Province."
    Gathering:

    • If one lives alone, with the members of one additional household.
    • For a wedding, funeral or religious service that is permitted by law or making necessary arrangements for the purpose of such a gathering.
    • Pay particular attention to the excercise element, The traveling and the gathering. Choose your friends carefull and stay safe.
    • I am willing to adopt any member who has a cottage into my family. Just saying... No pressures.
    • Finally, The order reads that you MUST not. This means that your charter rights to freedom of movement is thus suspended.

My own reading of this order as it partains to what we do. Please note that this does not constitute legal advice.

Can I still go to a riding?

Yes. According to the government, because outdoor activites are permitted.

The following outdoor activities are allowed to continue if pysical distancing can be maintained:

    • Parks and recreational areas, baseball diamonds, batting cages soccer, football and sports fields, tennis, platform tennis, table tennis and pickleball courts, basketball courts, BMX parks, skate parks, frisbee golf locations, cycling tracks and bike trails, horse riding facilities, shooting ranges, including those operated by rod and gun clubs, ice rinks, tobogganing hills, snowmobile, cross country, dogsledding, ice-skating and snow-shoe trails, playgrounds, portions of parks or recreational areas containing outdoor fitness equipment.
Can I go to my cottage or secondary residence?

No. The government says that because it is asking residents to stay home, trips to a cottage or secondary residence should be avoided, unless it is for an essential purpose like emergency maintenance.

The government is asking that people do not travel between regions for non-essential reasons.

    Can I travel within Canada?

While non-essential trips from Ontario to within Canada are not encouraged, there are no legal restrictions against them.

What are your thoughts fellow inmates?

I was thinking of getting out for some two wheel exercise today. Can my bike considered an assistive mobility device?

Ford apologized, right? I mean, last year's slip-up trip to his own cottage during Easter to attend to servicing it was simply an oversight on his part. Can I use the same excuse?\
