Discussion in 'Other Organized Rides and Events' started by brucedwilson, Mar 21, 2021.
what impact does today's govt announcement have on the April rides?
We have to discuss it as an executive but we will likely still distribute the GPS route and suggest riders safety enjoy part or all of the ride on a day and at times that work for them.
But the event itself cannot legally happen as we had hoped.
Bethany is a whole other animal we will continue to figure something out.
Official announcements to come
Limited to a groups of 5. That will be 1 ride leader and 4 riders i think.
Yes, Allan, we have a database of registrants. If you registered, you're on it. I show one Allan S.
Outdoor organized public events and social gatherings must comply with public health advice on physical distancing and have no more than 5 people.
Outdoor recreational amenities permitted to open, subject to conditions, include:
parks and recreational areas, baseball diamonds, batting cages, soccer, football and sports fields, tennis, platform tennis, table tennis and pickleball courts, basketball courts, BMX parks, skate parks, frisbee golf locations, cycling tracks and bike trails, horse riding facilities, shooting ranges, including those operated by rod and gun clubs, ice rinks, tobogganing hills, snowmobile, cross country, dogsledding, ice-skating and snow-shoe trails, playgrounds, portions of parks or recreational areas containing outdoor fitness equipment, golf courses and driving ranges, ski hills
A permitted outdoor recreational amenity may only open if:
physical distance of at least two metres can be maintained
team sports, or other sports or games where people may come within two metres of each other, are not practiced or played
Seriously, you can go snowmobiling but you can't go motorcycling. I suggest very little thought is put into these decisions.
I looks to me like we should be able to ride with a limit of 5 per group. Am I right?
Because motorcycling is obviously safe, and therefore doesn't need to be on the list!
I'm in. Somehow I doubt my new Honda 300 Rally will be here by then but i'll be thrilled to ride my old bike.
Check your PM from me.
Registration is now closed. See you that day...GPS info goes out one week ahead with rider/group assignments also.
Not sure how this might affect things.... I got this from a page regarding what recreational activities are allowed.
“You are not allowed to travel outside your region or the province unless absolutely necessary.”
I agree this is misleading. Reading over the Ontario website this wording is never used.
Lots of gray areas here.
I haven't done any club rides in a very long time! I'm interested in the Falls Ride if any spots open up!
I didn’t think you were riding anymore (lol).
Definitely a bummer about needing to cancel the ride but is there any chance of sharing the route gpx file with those who signed up to attend? It would be great to explore the route at some point, even if it is a solo adventure.
If there was any doubt I guess the latest stay at home order has put the final nail in the coffin for this ride....... Really sucks, I was looking forward to this.
What Chris said!
I see that off road trail riding is permitted where trails are open. Are trails still open?
If the trails are open, I am thinking Camper..Heating..Empty roads.
I think the rail trail is open. Welland canal trail too. Most everything else is closed.
Normal opening date around May 1
