I'm trying to figure out what club to join for the upcoming season. I am located in Kingston, Ontario and looking to join the one that makes the most sense?

New to offroad riding so I am not sure what one to join and what the differences are. Is there some sort of resource that covers the differences of all of the different clubs, where they let you ride, etc.

That depends on your focus. The ODSC is a good choice if you are mostly into dual sport/backroads type riding. The fee is less than other clubs so you save some money. If you ride trails and want to support a stewardship club, BMA is probably the closest one to you. Many members belong to two clubs, ie one stewardship club (SCORRA, BMA etc) and add the ODSC for an extra $10.

Thanks I think that's what I will do! I want to be able to ride calabogie because thats likely the closest but I also want to do some of the rides that seem to be organized here in the spring for newbies :)

I'm on the fence about which club to join as well. the ODSC makes sense regionally for me (i live downtown Toronto), but i don't have a dual sport bike (it's green plated) -- Does it make any sense to join the ODSC, or should i be looking at something like SCORRA.

I realize that there will be a heavy bias posting this here, but that's ok.

It's a good idea to support a stewardship club like SCORRA if you do some riding there. We'll naturally recommend joining the ODSC for an extra $10 fee, but it's entirely up to you. If money is tight, select ODSC as your only club and you will be paying less for the membership.

    To clarify this more:
    OFTR basic fee 55.00
Stewardship club (SCORRA, BMA etc) 30.00
    ODSC (no stewardship) 10.00

    OFTR + ODSC = 55.00 + 10.00 + tax
    OFTR + SCORRA = 55.00 + 30.00 + tax
    OFTR + SCORRA + ODSC = 55.00 + 30.00 + 10.00 + tax

We encourage all trail riders to join their local stewardship club.

Once you have OFTR membership, you can ride anywhere that has OFTR trails.
