I'm using my Welcome Message screen as a pre-ride checklist so I don't have to make a hand-written list every time I ride. While the message only lasts for a few seconds when I power-up my unit, I can always go to the edit screen and take my time to review it. So far, it reads as follows: helmet, boots, gloves, goggles, pads, Camelbak, keys, locks, tools, phone, ownership, insurance, member ID, food, money Just don't use more than the available screen size since it's a pain to scroll through the list. On my GPSmap 60, I have to hit the ahead or back button to advance through every single character which is impractical once you get 100+ characters. I find it's very easy to forget something, especially in the spring when you haven't been riding for months. Some of these things are very, very important.
Might want to consider adding drivers licence(if you plan on being on any roads) and your OHIP card to that list . You might also want to consider compiling an Emergency Information List(EIL) and keeping it with your DL or OHIP card with who to contact in case of emergency and any drug allergies if applicable because you can't always ride with people that know you. Think safe, be safe. Cheers Glen
I put "if found please return to blah blah on my welcome screen. I figure if someone finds it maybe they will return it to me then! I do like the idea of a pre-ride checklist! Matt
