Any one have or seen this unit, heard great things, but was hoping for some input, before I shell out the money they want for it.

Many of our Members have that (or the 60C) GPS. Use the "Search" button and enter "76C" and you'll many many references like this one http://www.odsc.on.ca/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3839.

Before you decide, look at the new "x" models from Garmin - such as the GPSMAP 76Cx. You don't really need the S model for motorcycling.

Update: Just found this brief "review" on the GPScity ca website (scroll to the bottom of the page).

I have a GPSMAP 76CS and love it. Had an etrex legend before that and was also great, but not colour.

I bought my 76CS a year ago and I am very happy with it.
Read the specs and you know why this is an awesome unit, so I'll tell you my user's impressions.

It was on my bike for 3 months with a lot of dust, vibration, sunlight and tropical rain. It never missed a beat. (it only did one wacky waypoint in the middle of the Pacific Ocean)
I have over 16000 kms of tracks ranging fron 100meter to 2mk accuracies and have 40% memory left.

    Things I liked:
Altimeter (helped me diagnose a carb issue) very accurate.
Alarm clock (a great travel buddy)
Screen: this is the best in the market for its size. Best resolution, great visibility in sunlight.
Electronic compass (just turn you handlebars to orient yourself, BTW this feature needs calibrating with every battery change)
    RUGGED!
    RELIABLE!
2 lithium AA batts will last many-many-many hours

    Things I dislike:
    A little bulky.
No replaceable memory... but with 115MB why complain.
It ignores my verbal comands :)

    Cheers!

    76CSx/76Cx Deals

If anyone is still looking for a good quality autorouting GPS with a plug-in memory card, it's hard to beat this deal:

    http://www.gpscentral.ca/products/garmin/76cx.htm

They currently sell at $499 but with the US$100 Rebate it's a steal.

... and remember to ask for your ODSC discount and FREE shipping - plus there's no PST as they are in Alberta ...

Bob, can you flip the display on the 76 to be either vert or horizontal like you can on the GPSV ? I prefer the units that can be mounted sideways over the bar clamps, than having it stick up in a hazardous position (to you and the gps). That is a great deal. Lets hope this is the beginning of the good color units coming down in price.

No, it's vertical only. I think the only current Garmin GPS with the screen rotate feature is the GPSV, although the Quest and the 276 are horizontally oriented.

Thanks, thats why I'm waiting for a lottery win or the price of the 276 to come down some.
