I took my 2017 KLR650 in for its first 1K service and went for a long ride today. When I got back I noticed a piece of my bike hanging that hadn’t been hanging when I took it in. Can someone tell me where this part bolts on to so I can ride tomorrow?

It's a cover plate with a drain tube. Should not be hanging. It is possible it vibrated off. Take it back to the shop. Have them go over the bike make sure nothing else is lose.

It looks like the battery side retainer plate. It's just held by 1 screw. If you don't have a spare & want to ride tomorrow, you can steal one from one of the bike's side plastic fairing.

As Michel mentioned - I think the side fairing bolts may be the same size also. Try it for size - then take a small ride to can tire or Home Depot and get a bolt the same. Not a very long bolt if I remember correctly.

    M6 by 10?

Looked it up - side bolt are slightly longer (12mm) but should work no problem.
