I was talking to Olivo on Saturday evening and we decided to ride on Sunday as the weather was looking good. Not enough time to plan a day ride so we seemed to be forced to fall back on a "Creemore Ride". Eventually enough is enough, so decided to do something different.

Mono Mills Tim Hortons is convenient for both of us so we meet at 9:30am, had a leisurely breakfast and then decided to take the shortest DS route to Creemore but NOT to stop there and keep going NW-ish ands see what happens.

What happened is we had GREAT ride - 54Km/58mins to Creemore via 7th, 5th the 4th Line, but we couldn't just not stop at all. Fifteen minutes sampling Creemore beers and 5 mins gassing the bikes, and then non-stop to lunch - tentatively planned for the Flying Spatula Restaurant in Flesherton. We tried Blue Mountain-Euphrasia Townline near Eugenia for the first time in 10 years (normally flooded and endless mud) but we made it through and then wanted to break for lunch. I never thought Eugenia was big enough to have a restaurant and were amazed when we found the Flying Chestnut hidden a block or two off the main road. AMAZING! The same guy owned both Flying restaurants, but sold the Spatula. The Chestnut has to have the best food I've ever eaten while wearing muddy riding gear. It looks like an old barn, but has great food, although only 5 choices.

I had the pizza and it's like nothing I've had before - a great pizza topped with a poached egg and served on top of a spinach/mixed salad, home fries and fresh fruit - pineapple, orange, melon and strawberry. I'd recommend it as not-to-be-missed on any ride that goes near Beaver Valley.

We continued to head west until we ran out of time as we wanted to be home by 6pm. The section from Beaver Valley to near Holland Centre on Hwy 10 was almost endless good trails, but they were quite muddy and probably would have been rougher than I'd ride if the summer hadn't been so dry.

    Overall a GREAT RIDE.

    Stats:- Home to Mono Mills: 93 Km/57 mins; The NCA Ride 166 Km/6hrs 30mins (Fill-ups: 87mins, Riding 5hrs 3mins); End to Home: 169Km/2hrs 37mins; my complete ride: 428Km/10hr 5min.

A change is as good as a rest :)

Looks like it was a great day! Sometimes it's nice to put aside plans and expectations and just explore.

I ate that guy's food at the Christie Lake Concert and Picnic (he operates a food truck). I agree, best food around!

That zone west of Creemore over to Chatsworth is really worth knowing...but you're right, sometimes it's impassable.
