Can't recommend a place to camp, but highly recommend that you look for something near the Wolverine area.

Can't go wrong around Houghton Lake (pron. "hoot'n"). We found the best riding to be down in the southwest from there...more hills, less flat, acres of sand!!

Folks have had good success north of there, too.

For the past 5 years, the Cambridge crew has stayed at Brentwood Lodging in Indian River MI. it's about 45 minutes south of the bridge near I-75. Really nice place, good prices. I think they have RV sites; if not, there's a State campground nearby.

Indian River has lots of trails nearby, it's a good place to setup "homebase".

So, what kind of camper did you get?

If the USA books up like here i would be booking now. Most southern Ontario Provincial parks are booked up threw the middle of August already.

For DS riding i can send you links threw the Upper part of MI close to you. Very scenic area.

Locations of campgrounds with direct or semi-direct access to ORV trails in Michigan. Includes links to trail detail, included in our online MI ORV Guide.

    http://www.vvmapping.com/

ORV operators can access the designated ORV Trail system from the campgrounds listed below.

Some counties allow Off Road Vehicles to operate on county road shoulders enabling enthusiasts to access ORV Trails from a campground that may not otherwise directly connect to a trail. Campgrounds in this situation are noted in the description.

Please note that the Michigan Department of Natural Resources closed several campgrounds starting in 2007 due to budget issues; check with the DNR before hand for any State Forest Campground.

Have a campground that should be included? Drop us a note: info@vvmapping.com

Please remember that ORV use in campgrounds should be limited to driving from camp directly to the trail. Do not drive around the campground and encourage others to do likewise. Other campers do not want dust or the noise of ORVs impacting their experience any more than you would.

Are you guys going this year? That's only about 3.5hrs for me to get there. I thing there are lots of places to ride north of the Mackinaw bridge which would only be about 3hrs from here.

Last summer we picked up a Jayco Baja so we can take the bikes with us.

Should be a regular crew from Ontario going up late in April. Not sure just yet if Payton and I will be able to make it, but we'd probably be staying where we usually do at Sturgeon Lake Campground. A short (and legal) ride down back roads to access Tomahawk A and B loops.
