Greetings , The old forum sure is almost stagnant but I wonder if people have opinions on the above. I'm very closing to buying one., I like the shaft drive and the lower weight combined with a simple pushrod or v twin . Or should i just carry on with my trusty BMW e80 rockster which is still an amazing bike . I tend to avoid singletrack these days but back roads, paved, gravel or dirt are still most enjoyable. Your thoughts ? Phil Allen 2003 Rockster e80 Wiarton
I thought Moto Guzzi made a good move when they brought out the V7. Don't know anything about the V85. Can you wrangle a test ride to see what it feels like?
Hi guys, glad to see there is life ☺!! What has set me off is that Fox HD in Owen Sound had a 2020 in the used showroom with a grand total of 857 km so it's essentially new. Warranty on MG is 2 years so that is positive and there are actually 3 dealers within reach- J& R cycle Stayner, Two wheels in Guelph and Corsa Meccanica in Vaughan. Dropped into to JR and they are happy to deal with re warranty etc, There is a massive thread on Adv rider which I have slogged through and tires are no huge recurring issues with the 2020s except for windshield turbulence. I really want to like this bike, it is mechanically simple and looks gorgeous to me. Price is lower than a new one but not by much. 2020 does not have tubeless tires but 2021 does although I understand its esy to retrofit. So I guess next step is a test ride but the Harley dealers seem very reluctant to allow me one as I only have 50+ years experience , I will probably revisit and pursue this but plan B would be a new 2020 from Corsa or a new 2021 from Two Wheels. Cheers Phil Wiarton
My Precious!!! Just need a set of 50/50 tyres and crashbars , should be a fine back roads explorer. Hope to hook up for some rides again in the spring
Congrats @Phil ! Bike looks great. I bet spring can’t come fast enough for you now eh. Did the HD dealership let you test ride? Or did you test ride a new bike at one of the other dealerships?
Hey, Phil, it looks awesome! Way to go. Did I see something recently about a 1,000 coming down the pike? Did you catch any mention of that at the dealer? Bruce
Picking her up today, everything white up here so it's a trailer job unfortunately. I have seen reference to a litre bike which will be well received but I bought this from the HD dealer so no info the. I was in to JR Cycle and Two wheels during my research phase and that did not seem to know anything re the 1000. I am just looking to downsize from my beloved Rockster which is now looking for a new home. Regarding a smaller d/s, I surprised myself (and others) with the capabilities of the BMW with the Avon Trailrider tyres so throw on a set on the new bike and it will do it all I hope . I have not actually ridden one but as this has 650km and starts and runs fine I am optimistic. Plus it has warranty until 2023 which JR Cycle will be looking after if necessary. Already looking at some bling for some winter projects. Cheers Phil
