    Hi guys
I will be going to my daughters at Millbrook, south of Peterborough on Friday afternoon until the following Thursday. I will be staying there for 6 days and I want to do some exploring. I was wondering if anyone in the area might have some free time to show me around a bit or just head out and see what we can find.
I have been to the Ganaraska but I would like to do more back roads and double track this time like some of those that were used for the Bethany ride. Nothing to extreme but some excitement would be nice. Unfortunately I have never made it to the Bethany yet so I do not know the area at all.
I would be up for a two or three day tour staying at motels or even just one day loops or half day rides. Whatever someone might have time for. Perhaps head to the Apsley/Bancroft area. From what I am reading it is a great area to ride.
So if anyone has some time to ride please give me a shout. I will probably bring both bikes with me so I am flexible on where we can ride.
    Thanks
    Rick

Rick - I was planning a Pennsylvania ride on those dates but I'll see if my buddy is interested in a Bancroft ride. He has a V-Strom and a KLR 650 and has been to Bancroft on my rides before.

If you had your PC with you we could have a Montana training session!

    Hey Rick
I live in Ptbo and would love to join in on any day rides after the weekend (especially in the Apsley area) - however I am not a useful resource for trails as I'm just getting to know the area myself - also just got a gpsmap 78 which I'm learning to use - so I'd love to join in, but it would be more of the head out and see what we find option - or we could also try out the Apsley route that is posted on ODSC (this one might be courtesy of Bob?)
Of course it would be great if any others who know the area joined in too...

If you are joining up with others and riding a few days (Apsley-Bancroft) I could always trailer up the DRZ and join you guys for the day as well...whatever works
    Cheers

    Ok Bob
Thank you for the offer. Please keep me informed if you decide to ride in Ontario. I have had to do some axx kissing but I am open for any day. I am sure I will pay for this later.

Jake sir. We will definitely have to get together for a least one ride. I will also keep you informed of my plans.

    Thanks
    Rick

Great - I think I can be free any day after Sunday - maybe even 2 if I make the weekend extra special for the wife;)

I've changed my plans for a PA trip ($0.76 ??) so I'm interested in a Bancroft area ride (which is everywhere from Peterboro to Renfrew, Hwy 7 to Algonquin) but it must be multiday as it's too far from Burlington.

Don't mind where the overnight stops are, but I'd prefer to be able to share a motel as they are way overpriced there (usually over $100/night).

It's a long weekend so it would be better as a Tues-Thurs ride.

    Would this work?

    Hi Bob

That will work Bob. Tues-Thurs is good with me. If you are riding from Peterborough each day though, then I will bed at my daughters. Its only an extra 15 minutes for me.

Are you bringing a friend or perhaps John might join us? May be they could share a room with you.

Hey Jake. are you going to join us too? It should fit your time frame.

    Anyone else interested?

Rick - The guy I was hoping to go with to PA can't do a multiday now so I asked John if he wants to share the motel.

I'll make up a few possible routes if you can tell me how much excitement you want :) ( I would like to do more back roads and double track this time like some of those that were used for the Bethany ride. Nothing to extreme but some excitement would be nice) .

Are you bringing a computer so we can sort out your GPS issues in the evening?

Sounds great - I'm definitely in. Sorry I don't have a spare room for company (unless someone wants to tent in the backyard...:))
Looking forward to the riding and comraderie.
    Cheers,

Bob - I don't mind riding somewhat technical trails but I don't want to struggle with mud. The KLR gets real heavy then. Now if I ride the WR then a little more extreme is possible.

Have you talked to John yet. He has done some extreme lately so he might want to ride his KLR.

No problem to bring my lap top. We will see how things work out. I may not have much of an attention span after riding all day though!

John is coming for at least Tuesday and Wednesday, and possibly Thurs. Pete (KLR/Stratford) is coming as well - he's been on my previous Bancroft 3-day rides.

Still have to arrange how/when/where (riding/trailering/etc) - will update later.

Our motel has a pool and hot tub so plan on a post-ride dip :)

Sounds good Bob. That makes five of us.

The KLR is ready to go. A few more items and I will be ready too.

Now where did I put those swim shorts?

Switched back to stock DRZ400S sprockets (15/44) and got a 50% worn D606 on front and 70% worn Trackmaster on the back - think I'm ready...If we do a big road tour I've got the big Vstrom with K60 scout on rear - but rather not take it offroad - done a few road allowances on it (Bethany ride with John Harvey) but it kind of sucks in sand...bloody heavey too - thought I've never had to pick it up yet...
Sold the street tires the DRZ came with and bought a new trackmaster II for after the ride - I'll be back in the Ganaraska...love to dig in the dirt...

Thinking of selling the Vstrom for a proper dualsport - or maybe an older classic - and eventually getting a proper dirtbike - just spent 2 hours removing the tank, seat, stupid cowling, tank side covers, fairing, sliding the rad forward, searching for dumb plastic fasteners in the grass... all to replace coolant, an air filtre and sparkplugs - I like the old GS750, or CB750, to change the plugs, just find your plug wrench...one or two bolts to lift the tank...air filtre box under/behind the seat...no radiator...bloody new bikes are rediculous! Glad I don't own a KTM!!!
Oh well, done now...back to riding...
    Looking forward to next week

Looks like the DR650 with decent 50/50 tires will fit into this ride just about right. Sound right to you guys?

I'd give it a go - and would be happy to try it out if you want to try my DRZ...
