Hello everybody! My nephew is planning a cross country trip this year. He,s looking for a decent bike to do it on, he is 25 with experience on smaller dual sports and his current vintage suzuki Gs850. I am telling him to look for Vstrom 650, Versus 650 , NC 750, etc. Budget is around 5k. Mid size is affordable insurance wise for him. Any thoughts on this and more importantly is anyone looking to sell a well farkled and properly maintained example of the above ? Let me know your thoughts. Phil MG V85tt Wiarton
The GS850 is a fine machine no doubt, but after riding my adv bike he is set on that type of bike (I may have talked it up a bit too much) His trip will be solo although I will ride with him in the Ontario portion. So, reliability is the main criteria which is why the list is Japanese, but looking cool is also important when you are 25. The GS is original, unmolested and runs amazingly well though and I think it would do the trip. It will be for sale however as spring approaches. Phil
