I'll be in Matewan and the Blue Goose.

    Anyone else?

Would love to say Hi and have a beer, but we are a week later. Do you guys ride exclusively in Buffalo Mountain?

Pretty much Buffalo and the Devils Anise

Last year we rode over to Rockhouse in the trails but it was a long gas challenged run to Gilbert so we took the road back

Brad, we are planning on riding from Rockhouse to Buffalo Mtn and back this year, hopefully using the gas station on highway 52 at the 44 intersection. Did you fuel up on the way to Gilbert from Buffalo mountain, or take it in one straight shot?

Straight shot from Matewan. It was a long run one way to Gilbert. Think it was about 4 hrs one way and it’s pretty much the one route back through Devils Anse. If you are doing the run to checkout the Buffalo single track my recommendation would be to trailer to Matewan or buffalo mtn trailhead

Thanks Brad. We have trailered to both Bear Wallow and Buffalo Mtn from Gilbert for the past ten years, but were hoping to try something different this year. I hear your advice though and was concerned about just what you mention.

Came back Tuesday. Hit most of the buffalo mountain single track and ripped over to Man. Ran into some scorra riders on 149. Was a good trip and will be back for year number 6 next April.

Grey Jay and Brad, did you ride B MTN 149 from south to north, or the opposite direction (towards Matewan). I'm asking because we rode it northbound and the uphill at the end of that trail was definitely not a "149" rating trail. It was a 199. We had one 4 stroke battery die in there and had to push/pull the dead bike up there. None of us rode up without a lot of pushing and pulling. I was PO'd. None of the singletrack trails seemed to have had any maintenance in years. Trees were down that were down 3 years ago. Was that just my old man imagination?

We rode 149 most days. We did it both ways during our stay although only did the uphill direction when it was dry. Done of the downed trees kept you on your toes for sure

Rick, by any chance did your group came across an Ontario Blue Plate on one of the more difficult hill climbs?

Seems I lost my plate somewhere during our stay.

    Plate has already been replaced.

I would agree that the single tract has had little if any maintenance. A hand saw would have been a blessing, I know a brand new Beta 350RRS that would have appreciated a tree down at waist height removed...

Sorry Don, no plate found. Thanks guys for your impressions. Your group obviously rides at a more competent level that our geriatric group did. After riding H-M most of the past 12 years, I think I am getting too old for their singletrack. I can accept that. We did hit the 149 hill after a couple of days of rain, but it didn't look like it would be any fun in the dry either.
