We held a few GPS Nights at the Mohawk Inn several years back, but it wasn't really a good venue for it. General "bike chat" dominates these events and it tends to drown out the finer points of using a GPS. I still have most of the Handouts I made, and they may still be useful even though GPS technology has moved on since the Garmin 60Cx was the GPS of choice, and I've posted them on a recent thread - http://www.odsc.on.ca/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21526.

I have found over the years that many users don't spend enough time reading the User Manual for their GPS, or visiting the many Forums that discuss GPS. There is no shortcut - the only way to learn about your GPS is to read the User Manual, ask questions when you don't understand a specific feature, and then practice how to use the features you need. However, if you only expect to use it once or twice a year on a group ride, then don't try to master it - just learn how to load routes/tracks, and how to follow them, and use the settings given in the posted notes.

If anyone has any specific questions about their GPS, please start a new thread.

Thanks for the post and the link.
I rn a Garmin 60CSx and although I've been using it for many years (biking, geocaching, etc) I still learned a few things about its set up from your post.
