From the OFTR this morning. To help stop the spread of COVID-19, the OFTR would like to take this time to remind all riders that the trails are currently closed in Ontario for OHV use. While the trails would normally open around May 1st, the Ontario government has extended the Declaration of Emergency to May 12, 2020, advising all Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel. “Non-essential” travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature. Based on the province’s request, as well as, the closure of many of our riding areas by the landowners and municipal forest, the riding season for OFTR members will be delayed. We appreciate our member’s patience in these trying times. The OFTR will do our very best to keep our members updated as the season progresses. Let’s do our part by staying home. To be clear, the Declaration of Emergency by the Province does not define nor restrict non-essential travel. Travel on open roads by licensed and insured vehicles is still permissible.
