You could always camp out in the sandaraska road parking lot - I've seen people do it before, just at the end of porter road area.

The Sand Man Hotel is right beside the starting location for the ride. Still have a couple rooms left if anyone is looking.

Thanks Kevin, I booked a room for Friday/Saturday night. I am going to spend the day Saturday checking out the routes and seeing if I a up to tackling it on Sunday with other riders around haha. Will the GPS routes be available for Thursday night? Anyone know of an android app that will work with them? I doubt my copilot app will work for trails haha.

p.s finally installed the gas tank tonight!

Locus, a hiking and Mountain bike app is well thought of on ADV Rider. It's what I'm planning on using on my second Bethany. It has a pretty steep learning curve, so you might want to spend a couple of days playing with it before the ride.

I've been evaluating Pathaway by a local Ontario company. Works on Apple and Android devices .
Steep learning curve as well but seems to work well.

I'm thinking it may be necessary to get new tires for the ride. It's going to be muddy and I'm running trail wings on my Dr650.

25-30 mm of rain forecast next Thursday. I think you can count on mud. Some of those allowances don't drain very well and the big trucks have already been out having fun. I rode the big bike route on Supermoto wheels with my BMW Dakar earlier last week and there was mud. I got myself into some places I shouldn't have been with those tires and luckily made it out. I think trailwings would be fine on the big bike route but the Bethany Dualsport route isn't usually a thing you want to do without some sort of knobbie tire.

Two insane. Those are not what some people call knobbies. If you run those on the ds Bethany loop - be prepared for some slow moving, pulling and pushing in some of the mud sections.

Those are a great dual sport gravel running tire - but terrible in mud. Cheapest option is probably a set of kenda k760 track masters.

those tires came stock with my drz400s. those tires are not worth the rubber that they were squeezed out of but that being said i did wear them out before changing them out for the kendal track masters.

That's what I figured. Thanks for the replys. I'll be doing my best to swap tires before Sunday. Otherwise I'll ride with the big dogs.

that is a really good idea to change that rear out. and the front tire is more important than the back just joking but not really joking as i usually go down when my front tire washes out. but i am assuming the front tire on your bike is of the same tread as you showed on your pictured back tire. Royal Disributing might have a sale on dual sport tires. i ride with the kendal aggressive rear tires but the front i use the not so aggressive lends ones(hence reason maybe why it washes out ) but my friend last year put on the brand that is made in Australia ( i believe) and they look cool and work good. Royal Distribiting has them so look it up if you are interested. if you need the tire name i can look it up and let you know.

Thanks. I'm going to go with the Kendal 270 or the track master.

Not too much mud out there compared to some previous years this year but I would still not suggest the trail wings for the DS route. Yes it could be done but the risk of falling goes up for those with limited off road experience. You can have trouble in wet grass with those. You will enjoy your day much more with a simple upgrade to dot knobbies. Kenda rear is great and cheap. Kenda front is much better then stock but I would recommend a different front if your buying new. Tractionator IT front is my prefered rubber for the front

I rode the Soggy Boot a few years back with a guy who had a DRZ on Trail Wings and he was fine! There was a lot of water around Crystal Lake that year. You just have to be careful with the throttle & keep some momentum.

I will be upgrading the tires soon. Not sure I'll make the change before Sunday. Thank you all for the tips.

If not come on out anyway. You can always just ride what your comfortable with. The beauty of dual sport is there is always the road around when things get too tuff for the tires.
