maybe I'm not saying anything new here , But out of need , i found a way to quickly switch between road and topo maps on my Garmin 60 .

Just got it back from repair after smashing it on a ride last year - and wanted to reload my maps. But since i wanted more maps this time - the card wasn't large enough. Ended up pulling a second card from my helmet camera , and loading the topo and road maps each on a card.So now ,instead of going in the menu , clicking off the maps I need and don't need when doing a DS ride and going from road to dirt and back - I just open the back ,where I have the second card taped in a little bag into the inside of the battery compartment - an switch them. A task that would take 5 minutes now takes me less then a minute :)

When you say "clicking off the maps ...." it sounds like you are trying to disable each SECTION of the map, rather than disable the entire map with one click.

On a Garmin 60Cx or CSx, if you are in the Map Screen, press Menu - Setup Map - (Information, if that wasn't the previously used screen) - Menu and then select Hide (or Show) Navigator/Topo/{mapname}. It takes under 5 seconds to change from Topo to Navigator, or any other mapset, not 5 minutes.
