Last weekend it was a mess in the shady spots. Both feet down on ice on our 990. All sunny sections were just fine as well the gravel roads. Doing this on Saturday is much better. We will have all of Sunday to leak our wounds IN with Husaberg 570.
We will put up the reg form and PayPal link shortly. We held Off until we could preride the area. Always safe to show up with money in hand at this ride We were out on Saturday. Still some ice pack in select roads and there most likely still be some next week too. We have made some alterations to the route but the ride is a go at this point and will cover most of the original planned route. Just need to avoid some shaded road sections and areas were the snow drifted across the roads. Still planing another scout session later in the week as we had mechanical issues and had to turn for home early. It’s important to note that we only use unmaintained roads on this ride and most have had some form or car/truck traffic on them already.
Will this years ride be more offroad than on. Last year's ride was 90% paved road due to weather. The previous years have been great mostly off road rides.
Yes we are still using the original planned route. Just avoiding two places were the ice is still thick on the hills. It will be mostly sandy dirt roads as it has in the past. Same type of riding we normally plan for this ride. Last year was an exception as we got over a foot of snow and ice delivered in April.
Hope it didn't come across as a complaint. You guys do amazing work on these rides. This is the ride that started me into the world of dual sports. I've done this ride on a klr250 dr650 and soon a crf250l. I look forward to this ride every year.

Yeh that is one of sections I switched out for another piece of closed road. It was on the way back this year and only a couple kms from the end. We will double back on the south trail which was in much better shape surprisingly as the trucks been through already and the snow is all gone. Thanks for the helping hand too! I was kinda tired by the time I got back to that trail! Really out of shape I am this year!
So... is there a rain date or is it rain or shine? It sounds like the weather is getting worse the closer to the weekend it gets. It’s showing rain showers all morning turning to steady rain all afternoon.
Also, are GPS maps going to be posted? I recently got a GPS but want to make sure I know how to load maps before arriving.
10 years ago (Bethany 2009) this is what the hogsback/beaver pond water crossing looked like: I haven't seen it that deep since... but judging from the forecast we might be in for a treat this year again If it's gonna rain, it might as well POUR!!!
I think there is a new bridge in that spot now if it’s at the top end of the hogs back. Yes it looks like it might be wet. Only time will tell.
