About a year ago Steve P picked up a old Honda to work on , then another. I thought it would be great to work on a old bike over the winter. I always liked the Honda Super Sports so last year when i had a chance to by one i did , then another. Then Steve bought another.

Saturday & Sunday afternoons are now old bike day's in my shop. Steve , Tony , L4T , & Linda are often visitors. You got to do something to make the winter go by.

Those are pretty odd looking tables for holding up the beer cans.

    Re: Winter project !

The plan is to make the Paris bike show. Some weekends the BEER seems to get in the way of the work. It is meant to be a learning experience for me but i have mostly learnt that the BEER keeps nice and cold in a snow bank.

Paul pulled a old carburetor apart for me and showed me a few things. I want to clean it and put it back togather a few times and learn that skill.

Hear are a few of the looks we are going for in the spring.

The looks i'm going for with the 2 bikes i am building. One should be done by spring.

That pic is just plain wrong.....I should post the pic of the nice "pair" I saw at the Port Dover Rally from last year. I think Tim will remember those twins!

You guys already have the physique taken care of. What Gym do you use again? ....Gym(Jim) Beam?

Bikes look like they're coming along fine. Probably best to stay out of the singletrack with them next summer......

You guys seem to be fans of old Honda street bikes. Not sure if you are interested or not but my brother has a complete '72 CB500 that has been sitting in his garage for years I think he would like to get rid of.

Let me know if you are interested and I can inquire.

    Re: Winter project !

Lots of progress today. I think it was because Randy and I had a gopher/b$tch/helper named Paul. Paul, pass me a wrench...Paul, grab the air hose...Paul, grab me a beer. Sure makes life easy when you have a Paul!

Brian, I know winter came early this year, but I have good info that says it's over now....Get the bikes ready, we are gonna be riding soon.

    Re: Winter project !

For anyone interested in doing an old Honda project here is some information i would like to pass on.

The best forum that covers everything from where to get parts to tech questions & online manuals check here

    http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php

These bikes can be a ton of fun to work and learn on. A lot of new parts are still available from your Honda dealer. I have seen bikes in "Donner" condition sell for $50.00 , bikes certified and decent riders go for $800.00 & show room bike selling in the $3000.00 range.

As a new guy i am quickly learning what a money pit a old bike can be as well. For my 76 550 the price to buy the big bore kit , Port & polish the head and re assemble everything is $2,500 + taxes. Keep in mind i have to R&R the motor and tear it down and clean everything myself. Add to that paint , exhaust & carb work,,, well i best not add up the rest.

    Re: Winter project !

Randy, good idea to provide some of the supporting info.....however...I don't think you have to spend that kind of money if you don't want to. For my bike, it will hopefully only require the new rubber(135$ front and rear) and the MAC exhaust I bought for it 165$(still waiting for delivery). Paid 800 for the bike, 300 in parts and she's good to go.

    Re: Winter project !

So the big question is are these bikes going to be ready for the summer so we can hit the twisties and get lost for a day?
