Thread updated: Sunday Oct 3rd 2021 Cancelled due to weather Save the date: Oct 3rd we will be having the Super Sunday...Details to follow. Michel
I have been away for a few days. During that time we had a severe storm inTillsonburg south to Walsingham. Some of the trails I checked today are totally blocked. I will be going out tomorrow with a chainsaw to see what can be cleared. South of Walsingham it looks ok. St Williams may have suffered some damage but overall it's ok including Turkey Point. We may have some turn arounds on our ride.
As mentioned in the top post we will be hosting the Super Sunday on October 3rd 2020. The ride will start from the Walsingham town hall at the intersection of Hwy 59 and 6th Concession, south of Langton. Coordinates are: N42 40.6 W080 31.6. With the easing of COVID restrictions, we are able to rent/use the community centre for warming up, changing and use the bathroom. This is a DS tour of Norfolk County back roads, allowances and some trails suitable for Big dogs on knobby tires. The trail sections can be bypassed. This is a fun and scenic DS ride for riders of all skill levels. A few years ago we had a GS 1200 on slicks complete the route, almost anything can be done on any bike with careful balance and judicious use of throttle. Novices riding on street tires should probably wait for another ride to get exposed to riding with the ODSC. Knobbies will get through the ride no problem. Our local guide in Norfolk County, Rick, has been busy laying an interesting route through the area. The route will be about 170 km total with a gas stop around the 100 km mark. Because of Covid we will eat lunch somewhere along the trail (not in a restaurant), so bring your own lunch. Ride sign-in will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am and we will depart at 10:00. Please be ready to ride, gassed up, geared up and tires aired down. The hall will be opened at 9:00 am. Cost is free to ODSC members and $10 for non-members. More details will be published closer to the date. Please post your intentions here so we have an idea of the group size. We may have to limit the number of riders according to provincial limits on group sizes. See you all out there! Michel
Confused I just wanted to double check that ride above listed for 3 Oct 2020 is just a typo and is actually 3 Oct 2021. If happening tomorrow, I would be interested in participating.
I'll be travelling a decent distance to attend so unfortunately weather may challenge my willingness to do so...Based on the current outlook I'd lower my previous 75% confidence to 25%. Any chance for a reschedule to the weekend after thanks giving (17th) given the forecast?
Super Sunday Ride cancelled Sunday Oct 3rd 2021 After giving it some consideration, the ride will be postponed. With the worst rain being overnight and in the morning, too many riders would cancel IMHO. So we'll try again later...Stay tuned.
