I am looking at a 2013 Beta 300rr that is currently green plated and I was wondering if it would be hard to switch it to a blue plate?
    Has anyone done this?
The bike was blue plated when new.
Do I just need to get a safety and register it.

If it is the original owner, he may have a chance of switching it back to a blue plate. Maybe he will do it then sell it to you. You will have a near impossible time converting it...with no guarantees. I wouldn’t buy it hoping to blue plate it. If you want a blue plate, find a bike that is blue plated.

I posed a similar question about a Husqvarna FE350. I stopped in to my local Service Ontario today. Showed them the VIN and explained I wanted the bike blue plated. The VIN isn’t in their system. The bike is in another province but I’m pretty sure it’s not registered. She told me I can swear an affidavit and they can create an ownership and I can get the bike blue plated. I think I would have to get it safetied. They don’t verify that it’s “street” legal. If I get pulled over the police can inspect it to verify it’s legal. I think she mentioned something similar about switching a bike from green to blue plate. She has worked at a license plate office for years so hopefully she is correct and it’s not how it used to be before any regulations were changed.

I realize that an MX or a hard endure would be near impossible to blue plate after going from blue to green but are the Beta's not sold as dual sports?

Think the 300rr is a thumper.... don’t know last time a new two stroke bike was sold as street legal and passed emissions in US/Canada .

    (R.D./Rz350? I owned an 81 RD350 20+ years ago!)

Yes the 300rr is a 2 stroke and it is sold with blinkers, brake lights and DOT tires.

But it was never sold as a road legal bike FROM the manufacture correct? (As don’t think it would pass emissions in NA).

Bike may have been skirted around the letter of the law by the dealer at original sale, but trying to get it back to a blue plate 6 years later may be tough (unless still registered in system as a plated?)

If the body type on the ownership is "MF" there is absolutely ZERO chance that it can be changed to a street plate. If it is "MD" you can switch it with a safety check.
